IR Application Examples -1

Here are some examples of Infrared Thermography used in process analysis, condition monitoring, non-destructive testing (NDT),  and equipment evaluation.  They are just a few of the possible ways IR can help you FIND and SOLVE your problems!

IR image of paper with a discontinuous wet streak

Paper Industry examples

Images show cold streaks in paper on a papermachine.  These represent wet areas in the drying operation and quality issues.  The upper one has a distinct start and stop, indicative of a repetitive event further upstream.  The periodicity can be used to identify the source.  The lower one is a continuous cold streak that can be traced back to its source using the IR equipment.

Any thermal process or process with a thermal signature can be examined by this technology.

IR image of 2 MD streaks on a corrugator

These images from a corrugator, making corrugated board for boxes, also show wet streaks.  The upper one shows two machine direction streaks in the board (the hotter, orange area) that are then reflected in the cooler carrying felt downstream (upper left of image).  The cause was traced back to machine problems.

The lower image shows a cross direction streak in the board that also can cause product quality problems.

Any thermal process or process with a thermal signature can be examined by this technology.

We can help you solve your manufacturing problems.
